The contrast between Former President Joe Biden's slow, reactive response and President Donald Trump's swift, proactive approach is striking. Following the devastating floods in Texas over the past few weeks, President Trump toured the affected areas, pledging immediate aid and a renewed commitment to reforming FEMA, implementing measures to prevent future disasters. CPAC Senior Fellow Mercedes Schlapp, appearing on The Right Squad, emphasized Trump's dedication to "fixing things" and supporting Americans impacted by natural disasters.

The panel discussed the "horrific" and tragic Texas floods, which have affected thousands. Schlapp highlighted the President's role as a "comforter in chief," noting his ability to listen and empathize with those suffering, particularly in the wake of disasters like the one unfolding in Texas. "This is a horrifying tragedy. The President's role as a 'comforter in chief' is critical," Schlapp stated. Trump's grassroots popularity stems from his proactive engagement with the needs of the average American, contrasting with past administrations that often overlooked or minimally addressed such crises.

Schlapp criticized Former Vice President Kamala Harris, comparing her response to Trump's, for offering North Carolinians affected by last year's devastating hurricane a mere $700 check. "One thing I know about President Trump is that he wants to fix the problem," Schlapp asserted. She underscored Trump's commitment to preventing future catastrophes through proactive measures, including FEMA reform and ensuring adequate aid is provided.
