The Supreme Court of the United States has recently ruled in favor of protecting parental rights, affirming parents' authority over their children's education. The ruling, discussed by CPAC Senior Fellow Mercedes Schlapp and host Lidia Curanaj on Newsmax's The Count on Newsmax, marks a pivotal moment for parents.
The ruling aligns with sentiments expressed at the recent CPAC Latino event in Miami, where parents emphasized the need for stronger protections for families. Schlapp, who attended the event, noted that Florida officials expressed relief over the Supreme Court's ruling. "They are relieved that parents won in this case," Schlapp said. "This is a win for students, sending a clear signal to the radical left and liberal school boards that they cannot push sexually explicit or LGBTQ material on children. It’s a violation of their constitutional rights."
Schlapp advocated for a return to fundamental education principles, focusing on equipping students with essential skills for global competitiveness. "We need to get back to the basics," she stated. "Let’s prepare students to compete nationally and internationally, not push harmful gender ideology curriculum."
The ruling is seen as a victory for parents seeking greater control over educational content, reinforcing the sanctity of family decision-making in schools.
