Texas Democrats, in a desperate attempt for media attention, are “taking a stand” by running away to New York, to break quorum and delay voting on new Congressional maps. Ben Shapiro criticizes Texas Democrats for shamelessly making it all about themselves by playing the hero and “taking a stand” when in reality they want to maintain their own power, all in the name of “preserving democracy.”
The Texas State Legislature had planned to vote on new Congressional district boundaries, but in protest, state Democrats are breaking quorum and heading to liberal areas in New York. Shapiro shares a clip of Texas Rep. James Talarico explaining his decision to leave, aiming to prevent what he calls “Trump’s redistricting power grab.” Rather than remaining in their state, Democrats opt for a dramatic display, portraying themselves as victims, instead of engaging in a reasonable debate with Texas Republicans.
