Tensions between Israel and Iran surged last week after Israel conducted preemptive airstrikes on Iranian targets identified as threats to regional security, escalating an already volatile conflict. In a recent discussion on America UnCanceled, host Mercedes Schlapp and Mark Wallace, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and CEO of United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), analyzed the strikes’ broader impact for Israel and the people of Iran.
Wallace described Israel’s actions as a potential turning point for Iran, where citizens endure severe repression under the current government. “The Iranian people are the true victims of this regime,” Wallace stated, suggesting that targeting senior Iranian officials could galvanize the public to reform.
Matt Schlapp, Chairman of CPAC, expressed similar hopes in a post on X on Friday: “Please pray for the Iranian people, who have suffered under a radical Muslim dictatorship since the 1970s. Let’s pray that Israel’s strikes contribute to Iran’s denuclearization and inspire a grassroots movement to topple the mullahs.”
