White House Border Czar Tom Homan condemned the previous administration’s border policies and their impact on human trafficking at CPAC's 3rd annual International Summit Against Human Trafficking. Frustrated, Homan declared that "Under Biden, the cartels cashed in. They exploited and abused women and children, and our government was enabling it," and that he “knew women and children were being sex trafficked” due to the open border policies of the Biden Administration. He highlighted the Trump Administration’s immediate action upon taking office, stating, “When Trump got back in office, we wanted to fix it [the border/trafficking], and we did!” Homan emphasized that stronger border security has directly reduced trafficking, asserting, “A more secure border means less trafficking,” and boldly claimed, “We are bankrupting the criminal cartels of Mexico. Trump will be the first president in history to wipe the cartels off the face of the earth.”
Homan criticized the Biden Administration’s failures over the past four years, particularly their handling of unaccompanied minors being trafficked, saying, “The last administration lost 300,000 of them [children], and they weren’t looking for them!” He contrasted this with current efforts, noting that the Trump Administration has already located over 10,000 missing children. Homan vowed, “I will do everything in my power, and this administration will do everything in its power, to find Every. Single. Kid.” He detailed the ongoing work of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), stating that “HSI is working every day to find these kids across the country,” underscoring the agency’s commitment to rescuing victims of human trafficking nationwide.
Homan expressed gratitude for increased funding with the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, saying, “Thank you [officials] for the Big Beautiful Bill because now we have more money [for tech, etc.] to find these kids.” The increased resources from the historic legislation, he explained, are enhancing technological capabilities to track and rescue trafficked children. Homan reassured attendees of his commitment to reinforcing the administration’s aggressive stance against human trafficking and its root causes.
