CPAC Releases California Legislative Scorecard, Showing the State to Be a Major Innovator in Extreme Leftist Policies.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 27, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s latest analysis reveals that California Democrats continued their attacks on biological women, families, gun owners, and entrepreneurs with Leftist policy in 2023. This past session, California Democrats passed radically socialist housing policies, novel infringements on parental rights, more welfare benefits to illegal immigrants, and much more. The Democrat caucus deservedly received an average score of 2.2% from CPAC’s Center for Legislative Accountability.
“The bills passed by California Democrats are both absurd and dangerous for all Californians; conservatives need to work harder to ensure that the policies of this state don’t contaminate the rest of the nation.” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “No society can survive for long when its government promotes the castration and mutilation of children, especially when parents are not consulted. Without strong families America will continue to decay.”
The following members of the California State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session.

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of California address radical gender ideology, Second Amendment infringements, abortion, labor laws, and much more. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and upholding the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the California legislature.
The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
