CPAC Releases New Hampshire Legislative Scorecard, Revealing the Plight of Razor-Thin Majorities.
ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 11, 2024) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that New Hampshire’s Republican legislators largely voted consistently in line with the conservative position throughout the year. Despite their efforts, however, few conservative bills were passed because of near-gridlock in the House.
“Somehow, New Hampshire, with its ideologically divided 400-person House of Representatives, has found itself in this unenviable position with predictable results,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “New Hampshire voters need to send more conservatives to the legislature in order for the next Republican Governor to succeed.”
CPAC recognizes several New Hampshire state legislators for their conservative voting records. Many members of the New Hampshire State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in gold on the scorecard.
Additionally, some lawmakers in the New Hampshire State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2023 session. Their names are highlighted in silver on the scorecard.
The bills featured in CPAC’s 2023 Ratings of New Hampshire address parental rights in education, Second Amendment freedoms, and abortion. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the New Hampshire legislature.
The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
