CPAC Releases Georgia Legislative Scorecard, Revealing Continued Conservative Success As Democrats Grow Radically More Liberal

ALEXANDRIA, VA (June 15, 2023) — CPAC Foundation’s analysis reveals that Republican lawmakers in Georgia voted conservatively at rates comparable to the highs they attained in the previous year. Democrats in the House and the Senate, by contrast, both voted on average over 17% more liberal than they did during the prior year.

“While the Georgia election process remains an issue, Governor Kemp deserves credit for leading a conservative policy agenda with the elected Republicans showing that we can get results when we fight the radicalized Democrat party and not each other,” said CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp. “Georgia’s conservative legislators answered the call to strengthen parental rights, protect girls’ sports, and defend the Second Amendment, earning many legislators a high CPAC conservative rating.”

Several Georgia state legislators are recognized by CPAC for their conservative voting records based on a just-released analysis from CPAC Foundation’s Center for Legislative Accountability.

The following members of the Georgia State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Excellence for voting with the conservative position at least 90% of the time during the 2022 session:

Additionally, a large number of lawmakers in the Georgia State Legislature earned CPAC’s Award for Conservative Achievement for voting with the conservative position at least 80% of the time during the 2022 session.

The bills featured in CPAC’s 2022 Ratings of Georgia address protecting girls sports, Second Amendment rights, school choice, and curriculum transparency. These issues, coupled with our mission to protect life, liberty, property and uphold the American family, created the basis by which the CPAC Foundation rated the Georgia legislature.

The Center for Legislative Accountability (CLA), an initiative of the CPAC Foundation, is the premier organization for holding lawmakers accountable. The CLA produces the longest-running conservative congressional scorecard and our state program is the only one in the nation that scores all 8,000 lawmakers in the 50 states across every policy area.
