Democrats Want to Normalize Crime and Demonize Law Enforcement: Mercedes Schlapp on The Right Squad

Democrats often portray crime as a normal and unavoidable aspect of life in large cities, but President Trump's recent deployment of federal forces in Washington, D.C., has demonstrated that effective law enforcement can significantly curb it. Despite claims of historically low crime rates in the District prior to Trump's intervention, residents and visitors faced rampant carjackings and homicides that terrorized the community. In fact, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser acknowledged this week that the federal reinforcement has enhanced the Metropolitan Police Department's capabilities, leading to an 87% reduction in carjackings and a 15% overall drop in crime during the initial 20 days. She specifically thanked Trump for the reinforcements, noting that the Capitol Police have responded more effectively, bringing crime levels down dramatically—nearly to zero in some areas—over the two weeks since their arrival.

CPAC Senior Fellow Mercedes Schlapp recently appeared on Newsmax's The Right Squad, where she criticized Democrats for normalizing crime and demonizing law enforcement officers who work to protect citizens and maintain law and order. Schlapp praised the federal law enforcement deployment in D.C. as a necessary step but emphasized that it is not a sustainable long-term solution. She argued that local police departments in major cities lack the resources they need due to ineffective and corrupt Democrat leadership.

Schlapp further accused Democrats of refusing to confront crime head-on, accepting it as an inevitable part of urban existence, and treating it as an unsolvable issue. She stressed that crime should never be normalized and that Democrats must prioritize enforcing the law in these high-crime areas. Pointing to Trump's rapid success in D.C.—achieved simply through increased police presence on the streets—Schlapp asserted that immediate results are possible when leaders commit to law and order.
