On Newsmax’s Newsline with host Bianca de la Garza, CPAC Chairman Matt Schlapp and Reince Priebus, a member of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, accused former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden of enabling Iran’s nuclear program.
Schlapp praised President Donald Trump’s campaign pledge to counter Iran’s nuclear aspirations, emphasizing Trump’s commitment to “defang” a regime on the verge of nuclear capability. “I am very proud of President Trump; this is one of the things he ran for the presidency on: that he would defang the soon-to-be nuclearized Iranian regime,” Schlapp stated.
Drawing parallels to President Ronald Reagan’s “peace through strength” doctrine, Priebus argued that Trump’s projection of strength deterred adversaries from targeting American interests. “As Ronald Reagan told us: ‘If people don’t fear us, they will take us out,’” Schlapp added, calling Trump “a strong next generation of Ronald Reagan.”
Schlapp dismissed critics of Trump’s decision to confront Iran militarily, asserting the regime’s hostility. “The Iranian regime is at war with America; they call us the great Satan and have done everything they could to bring terror to our shores,” he said, defending the strikes as a response to an imminent threat.
He further criticized Obama and Biden, claiming Trump offered an “elegant solution” by dismantling their policies. “Let’s undo the Obama-Biden lies about how you could give Iran all these resources and they wouldn’t pursue a nuclear weapon,” Schlapp said.
